Compound is hiring a Researcher (non-investing role). In this role, the candidate will delve into the intricacies of emerging technologies as well as the people within these categories across academia to operational industry. They will work closely with the investment team to help build out, pressure test, and validate our theses, while also helping accelerate our incubations. They will also be responsible for facilitating conversations and building relationships between key people (researchers, operators, potential founders, founders) and the investment team in our areas of focus.
The is a full-time role and must be based in NYC or San Francisco.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research & Analysis:
- Conduct thorough investigations into new and evolving technology sectors, translating intricate details into actionable insights. The research should carry a commercialization lens.
- Collaborate with internal teams to refine our understanding of potential investment landscapes, including contributing to internal memos and public essays.
- Spot emerging technology trends and market shifts, advising on potential avenues of interest.
- Publish research publicly first-hand.
- Networking & Relationship Building:
- Discover and engage with interesting and upcoming figures in the deep tech ecosystems (AI/ML, Bio, Robotics, Energy, and more).
- Forge meaningful relationships with academic and research institutions, ensuring we're always in touch with the forefront of innovation.
- Build meaningful relationships with operators in deep tech in an effort to help us in both incubation and “idea collaboration” with founders.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Relay research findings and networking updates to the team, contributing to our collective knowledge pool.
- Facilitate seamless interactions between our firm and the people you connect with.
- Work with various internal teams to streamline our research and networking endeavors.
